Universities That Do Not Accept Neco

In a nutshell, it doesn’t seem like any Nigerian University rejects NECO results. As far as we have been able to gather, NECO is a result that can stand in for the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) certificate, especially within the country.

The only case you might not be able to use your NECO is when you try to study outside the country. As a Nigerian, you should note that NECO, the National Examination Council certificate can only be accepted in a few Universities outside the country, as it is majorly recognized within the country – as the word “National,” implies.

Why Should One Write WAEC and NECO?

The number of students sitting for NECO increases yearly. Many believe that it is an awesome idea to write both, while some select one of the two. One thing you should know is that if you must choose one out of these two, then you want to go for WAEC because you never can tell you might find yourself applying for a University abroad.

You should write WAEC because it is this certificate that tells that one has successfully completed his secondary school education. The same thing goes for NECO.

You don’t want to neglect any of these examinations because you can be offered admission into a University without your JAMB results, only if you have a certificate to show you’ve completed your secondary school education, such as WAEC, GCE, NECO, etc.

On the other hand, it is not possible to be offered admission without your O’Level results. When worse comes to worst, the school might ask you to start your course with an awaiting O’Level result.

WAEC or NECO which is the best?

Both NECO and WAEC are important. However, we have to admit that the NECO certificate is barely recognized compared to WAEC, West Africa Examination Council certificate. To some people, NECO is the best simply because it doesn’t seem to be as difficult as WAEC.

Hence, one might want to say that WAEC is the best of the two – although depending on what seems to make up ‘best’ for you in a case like this.
